KOFASIL® LIFE

1b, 1c Improving fermentation
4a Improving feed intake
4b Improving digestibility
4c Improving animal performance
Live inoculant preparation suitable for grass, legumes and whole-crop silage
ATTRIBUTES
1. Live culture without the hassles (see below)
2. Contain homofermenters that are able to utilize wide range of sugars.
3. Also contain 2 strains of propionic acid bacteria
4. High osmotolerance, i.e. effective on high DM forages
5. Lowers the pH value faster than any inactive inoculants presented in liquid or dry forms (see figure below)
6. Fast acidification results in early elimination of bad micro-organisms (e.g. clostridia, enterobacteria) and improves silage quality
7. Suitable for grass, whole-crop cereals, clover and maize silage
LIFE CULTURE MADE SIMPLE
No more hot plate, temperature regulation, pH monitor or all the hassles that comes with other active cultures. Preparation is as simple as ready-steady-go. Just add water and let the colour change tell you when it is ready to use
start 24 hours 48 hours
TRIAL RESULT
Effect of KOFASIL® LIFE treated grass silage (DM 37 %) on performance of fattening bulls
(Technical University Munich - Schwarz, 1998)
Liveweight gain (g/head/day)

Active ingredients:
Lactobacillus plantarum (DSM 3676; 3677)
pionibacterium spp. (DSM 9576; 9577)
Inoculation rate:
minimum of 400.000 bacteria / g forage
after activation for 48 hours
Storage / Shelf-life:
Shelf-life at room temperature = 1 year;
Shelf-life in freezer (-18 °C) = 3 years.
Activated cultures can be stored at room temperature for 10-14 days and in the fridge at (- 4°C) for up to 4 weeks without loss of activity.
Packaging
2 x 5 Litres PE canister, containing 500 g net bacteria and growth medium (treats 2 x 75 t fresh forage)

KOFASIL® DUO
ADDCON’S ALL WEATHER SILAGE ADDITIVE SPECIALLY FORMULATED TO IMPROVE SILAGE QUALITY AND IMPROVE AEROBIC STABILITY
Kofasil®Duo is supplied as freeze-dried ready to use premix.
It Contains:
1. The same unique strains of homofermenters (lactobacillus plantarum; DSM 3676, DSM 3677) used in KOFASIL®LIFE and
2. The same strain of heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus buchneri) used in KOFASIL®LIFE M
Attributes
1. Able to utilize wide range of sugars
2. Fast acidification results in early elimination of bad micro-organisms (e.g. clostridia, enterobacteria), thus ensuring an Improvement in Silage Feeding Value.
3. Yeast and mould are also effectively suppressed, thus ensuring an Improvement in Aerobic Stability at Feedout.
4. High osmotolerance makes it effective on high DM forages
Kofasil®Duo is Suitable for Grass, Wholecrop and Maize Silage

KOFASIL® LIFE M
Approval Category
2. IMPROVING AEROBIC STABILITY OF SILAGE
Live metabolically active silage additive suitable for maize, wholecrop and high DM grass
ATTRIBUTES
1. A live metabolically active culture without the hassles (see opposite).
2. Reduce silage pH faster than any inactive or freeze-dried inoculant additives.
3. Contains a unique strain of heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus buchneri) which speedily induces lactic acid fermentation whilst at the same time forming some acetic acid (see mode of action below).
4. Yeast and mould are effectively suppressed by the acetic acid thus ensuring an improvement in AEROBIC STABILITY.
5. Formation of acetic acid is limited to the minimum necessary so that there are no negative effects on the taste of the silage.
6. Suitable for maize silage, wholecrop silage and any high DM grass silage where there is a high risk of aerobic instability (heating up) at feedout.
Mode of action of L. buchneri
Trial results
Effect of kofasil life M on aerobic stability of maize silage (Spiekers 2001; Hertwig 2001; Pflaum 2003)
